Peter Jay Brown at TEDxTopanga
Making Waves, One Story at a Time
What does it take to create real change in the world? Peter Jay Brown, acclaimed director, cinematographer, and passionate conservationist, has spent his career answering that question—and at TEDxTopanga, he’s sharing how you can do it too.
With over 30 years of experience producing shows like Real People, Entertainment Tonight, and the Discovery Channel’s hit series Whale Wars, Peter has mastered the art of storytelling. But his work extends far beyond the screen—he’s been an active force for environmental and wildlife conservation for decades.
As a longtime member of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Peter has dedicated 25+ years to protecting marine life and is now bringing his experiences to the big screen with his feature-length documentary, Confessions of an Eco-Terrorist. His impact doesn’t stop at the ocean—he has also produced and directed 20 films with Kenya Wildlife Services, championing conservation efforts in Africa.
Beyond filmmaking, Peter’s humanitarian work has taken him across the globe. In December 2001, he played a pivotal role in helping Mary MacMakin re-establish her charity, PARSA, in Kabul, Afghanistan, supporting women and children affected by conflict.
At TEDxTopanga, Peter will share his unique insights on storytelling, activism, and how small actions can create lasting change. Whether through film, conservation, or humanitarian work, he proves that we all have the power to make a difference—and it starts with taking action.
